After Rushing’s tour in Germany, he took a nine month break where he worked in a farm in Simpson County and trained 11 soldiers in Carolina to be fight in Vietnam. After training them, he decided to enlist and fight with his trainees in Vietnam.
Rushing enlisted on July 14, 1964 in Jackson, Mississippi for his Vietnam tour. He was then placed in the L troop of the 3rd Squadron of the 11th Armored Cavalry, which is also known as Blackhorse because of its shoulder patch. He then trained in Fort Irwin, California before going to Vietnam. |
